About Us

This site has been developed by Australian and New Zealand physicians with the aim of improving the diagnosis, investigation and management of cardiovascular conditions that result in a transient loss of consciousness – ‘Blackouts’.

The physicians involved in the development of this site include Cardiologists, Neurologists, Geriatricians, Clinical Pharmacologists and Paediatricians.

The specific aims of the site include:

• Increasing doctor and patient understanding about syncope and blood pressure control disorders
• Improving the diagnosis and management of syncope and blood pressure control disorders.
• Providing an accessible and reliable source of information for Australasian doctors and patients on syncope and related disorders.
• Improving early identification of patients at risk of sudden cardiac death through links with:
  • The Electrophysiology and Cardiac Genetic Diseases Working Groups of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand
  • TRAGADY (TransTasman Task Force Against Arrhythmic Death in the Young)
