Syncope Due To Low Blood Pressure -
Weakened Pumping Function of the Heart

Patients who have conditions, which result in weakening of the heart muscle can experience blackouts due to an inability of the heart of the heart to pump enough blood to meet the demands of the body and brain.
             
Often patients with these conditions are also taking heart and fluid tablets, which can also lower the blood pressure and contribute to a blackout.

People with weakened pumping function of the heart are also at risk of blackouts due to a serious an Abnormal Fast Heart Beat so blackouts in people known to have weakened pumping function of the heart should be taken very seriously.

Weakened pumping function of the heart can be the result of :

• Diseases of the heart muscle – Cardiomyopathy
• Diseases of the heart arteries, which result in damage to the heart muscle because it does not receive enough blood supply – Ischaemic Cardiomyopathy.
