Preparing For The Specialists Visit

Before you see the specialist it is helpful to obtain the results of any prior tests you may have had.

These may include:

Your GP may have results of these tests. Please check he or she has sent copies to the specialist.

If you have seen other specialists about your condition before, your GP may have letters from these consultations, which should be forwarded to the new specialist. Previous letters often contain useful information such as details of fainting spells or results of investigations that may have been forgotten over the course of time.

If anyone has witnessed your blackout it would be helpful to speak to them, or better still, bring them or their contact details along with you to the consultation.

The specialist will want to know what medications you are taking or have taken in the past, so bring a list of you medications, and their doses, with you.

If you have any particular questions or concerns you may wish to write them down so that you don’t forget to ask the doctor.
